What is HILS?

HILS is the Health Information and Library Service for all staff working in the the Primary Care Trusts and throughout primary care in the Gateshead and South Tyneside areas, including staff in joint and partnership posts.
The service has bases at both Gateshead and South Tyneside PCTs.

We aim to support evidence-based healthcare through supporting the information needs of all staff involved in the provision of healthcare services.
We can help you access high quality information and research evidence to support your work, research or self-directed CPD and inform patient care and services.

The service is part of the National Library for Health and resources include a range of health related databases and over 1000 electronic journals, in addition to standard library services such as loans and obtaining articles.
We can also offer advice on sources, information skills training and a literature searching service.

If you are uncertain about your eligibility to use any of the services, please email HILS@ghpct.nhs.uk
