On the last Friday of January, NHS Evidence - infections presented at Topics in Infection XXXVI on the history of evidence-based healthcare and provided a brief glimpse into the services that are available to clinicians to help them practice it. Needless to say, NICE and the Cochrane Collaboration featured strongly but the talk instigated a couple of interesting questions. Given that 11% of systematic reviews need some sort of updating after only 2 years (and 7% needed updating before they go to print!) not to mention a well-documented publication bias, it is clear that whilst the nation's clinical contingent are getting increasingly evidence-savvy, they are also identifying the need for better evidence to be made more available. Until 'The Truth' is available, the ISC promises to deliver the best available evidence to you, for free. Can't get fairer than that can you? 2010 Annual Evidence Update: On the move against TB NHS Evidence - infections will launch its 2010 Annual Evidence Update: On the move against TB on the 22nd of March. The update has been timed to coincide with World TB Day on the 24th of March. This update will include the key guidance, systematic reviews and reports on tuberculosis that have been published in the last 12 months, along with expert commentaries and useful websites. |
